Talk Of The Town

Here’s what professionals have to say about doing business in Chester County.

Southeastern Petroleum

Southeastern Petroleum is an oil recovery facility that specializes in recycling used motor oil, where the finished product is as good as or better than virgin base oil.

“The decision to locate Southeastern Petroleum in Chester County was made after reviewing the possibilities and concluding that Chester County had a combination of variables that would be beneficial to the success of this project. Everyone we have been in contact with, such as the Chester County Economic Development office, Council Members, Local County officials, Lancaster & Chester Railway, as well as the state of South Carolina, has been very helpful. We are looking forward to working in Chester County, and are grateful for their sincerity in welcoming our facility into their community.”

Institute For Business & Home Safety

“What a pleasure it has been to work with you and the many other Chester local and county officials over the past several months. As you know, the Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) undertook a rigorous national search to find the optimum location for our world-class, multi-peril applied science lab. After spending months sifting through proposals from several other state and local development offices, and specifically examining dozens of parcels of land, we chose Chester County. We could not have found a more perfect location, and don’t believe the process could have gone more smoothly.

Chester’s climate and geography offer the ability to conduct tests year-round, which is essential for us. In addition, we were able to find a site close to a major highway and an easy drive to a major airport – critical to IBHS since we will draw scientists, public policymakers, building industry officials, insurance industry officials, and other visitors from across the country. And, we were able to work with you and Duke Power to easily identify sites that could meet our unique power needs. Finally, we are very pleased that our site is close to academic institutions and relevant business sectors from which we can recruit talent, and with whom we can partner on research.

The due diligence you conducted on our behalf as we winnowed down our list of potential sites ensured that we did not waste valuable time looking at land that would not meet our needs. The cooperative, productive, highly professional atmosphere that you and the other state, county and local representatives have fostered made it much easier for us to get answers to our many questions quickly, which was important, given our compressed timeline for decision-making. We are proud to be a new part of the Chester community, and would be happy to speak to other executives considering Chester as a location for their business operations.”

PPG Industries

“Chester County Economic Development has been an extremely valuable resource to PPG Industries Fiber Glass Products. A most recent example is the high level of communication and cooperation demonstrated by Hal Stone working with PPG and the Chester County Board of Commissioners to negotiate a property tax rate plan that was mutually agreeable to the parties involved. Chester County Economic Development resources are always accessible and willing to help. I'm truly grateful to be able to call on this organization when needed. ”

Klerks Hyplast, Inc.

“Our company spent 14 years in Chester County before we decided the building that we were located in was too large for our downsized organization, and we decided to move into a facility half the size. We toured commercial properties in neighboring counties looking for a building that would best suit our business and financial limitations. Chester County Economic Development did not want us to leave, and worked closely with us to help find a building that best suited our business and financial needs. If you’re looking for affordable commercial property, I’d highly recommend properties in Chester County. They can be had at a fraction of the cost you’d pay in neighboring York and Mecklenburg Counties. The people within Chester County Economic Development are easy to work with, and have a vast knowledge of the area and many properties available. ”
